| On August 29th,
Waltham Cottage hosted a community dinner which was held at Waltham School
hall. We dined on vegetarian food from The
Grace of Guan Yin and fish bits. The cottage also provided drinks.
Members of the community brought along desert.
At least 90 community members of all ages and stages attended and a great time was had by all. Pam took our digital camera along and got quite a few shots. Unfortunately some of the photos were slightly dark, but see them below anyway. Click on these thumbnails to look at them up close. Some of the comments heard about the dinner were: "It had all the makings of a good party - fabulous decorations (thanks to the WOOSH children), wonderful spread of food and lots and lots of people." "It reminded me of parties of my youth when you had a real mix of ages. The same applied here from babies to a good smattering of members of the 'oldies group'." "This community get together reminded me of how multi-cultural our community is..." "It was lovely to see some of the young people and remember how they first came to the cottage as babies." Rosa and Tabitha set the tables |
and some of us stood around and chatted a bit. |
Ian brought the most delicious desert... (read recipe here) |
but first of course we ate the main course. |
There was plenty for everyone ... |
the food was divine ... |
and it was lovely to catch up. |
It was nice to see familiar faces from the cottage ... |
and then it was time for pudding. (Adrienne ducking for cover). |
There was a great selection of fattening food but nobody minded |
... and there was plenty to go around. |
Candy caught up with a few old friends ... |
while Julianne showed off her children's book in the kitchen. |
Some enjoy it in the kitchen at parties |
... and others congregated outside the kitchen door. |
The kids were happy enough doing their own thing |
... and afterwards some of the teenagers danced the chicken dance with them, |
or just sat around together. |
